The David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy has received $60,000 in grants to purchase engineering course curriculum and related technology.
The funding is available through a partnership between Chevron and Project Lead the Way, a provider of science, technology, engineering and math curriculum.
A $50,000 grant will fund the implementation of a pathway to engineering course for high school students, while a $10,000 grant will supplement a "Gateway to Technology" program for students in sixth through eighth grade at the academy.
School officials say the curriculum offers students a project-problem-based learning environment.
