A councilman has introduced a resolution calling for the resignations of all Capital Area Transit System board members and for a new process to vet nominations of those seeking to serve on the Baton Rouge transit system board of directors.
Two resolutions by Councilman Buddy Amoroso are scheduled to come before the Metro Council on Wednesday. If approved, the new nominating process would go into effect immediately.
One resolution would establish qualifications for prospective CATS board members, including experience in management, public finance, strategic planning or mass transit.
Also, the new board members would be required to attend six hours of orientation training on the duties and responsibilities of the board and take six hours of continuing education annually in transit planning, public finance and public engagement.
