State police have arrested a man after toxicology tests showed that he was under the influence of several controlled substances in a July accident that killed two people.
Trooper Jared Sandifer says 28-year-old Samuel Doherty III, of Baton Rouge, was booked into the Livingston Parish jail on two counts of vehicular homicide Sunday afternoon.
Troopers say 20-year-old Mickel L. Tetreault, of Livingston, died in the July 27 crash, and 22-year-old Bryan Payne, of Denham Springs, died from his injuries the next day in a Baton Rouge hospital.
Investigators say Doherty was driving a pickup that crossed the centerline and hit another pickup driven by Payne.
