Once it's finished, the renovations of the terminal at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport should make the experience of visiting or working at the airport much more enjoyable.
There will be larger restrooms, fresh paint, carpeting and ceiling tiles, an enclosed curbside check-in area and an enlarged rotunda where visitors without tickets can await arriving passengers or extend farewells to departing family and friends.
The expanded rotunda also will give more room for a third security checkpoint.
But a problem installing terrazzo floor tiles, along with other construction headaches, delayed the rotunda expansion.
Ralph Hennessy, the airport's assistant director of aviation, says originally expected to have been completed six months ago, the expansion is now planned for completion by November.
