At least three candidates are running in an historic election for West Feliciana Parish, an Oct. 19 vote on the first parish president authorized under a home-rule charter voters approved last year.
When the parish president takes office, most of the other charter provisions will take effect, and the parish's seven police jurors will become Parish Council members.
The announced candidates are former state Rep. Tom McVea, businessman Kevin Couhig and businessman and Police Juror John Kean.
Qualifying for the election will be Wednesday through Friday at the Clerk of Court's St. Francisville office
