The Jefferson Davis Police Jury has approved plans for Fire District 4 to build a new fire station in the Andrus Cove area.
The station will be built on a two-acre site on the east side of La. Highway 26, just south of Highway 102.
Fire District 4 now has a Class 4 fire rating based on the most recent Property Insurance Association of Louisiana inspection. A new rating inspection will take place in two years.
The district serves more than 1,700 people in the area outside of the unincorporated part of Lake Arthur, including Andrus Cove, Thornwell and Morgan Shores.
