A Jennings couple is facing charges of cruelty to the infirm following a month long joint investigation by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office and Elderly Protection Service (EPS). 65-year-old George Mundt and 69-year-old Sylvia Landry are being held in the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail tonight.
Deputies say in mid-June, EPS contacted detectives following an abuse complaint. Detectives say they found a 70-year-old male with bruising to his body, who was in very poor health. He was transported to the Jennings American Legion Hospital for treatment where he was also found to be severely malnourished. Deputies say Mundt and Landry were the caregivers of the male victim at the time.
Mundt was arrested on July 3, 2013 and booked into the parish jail where he remains on a $25,000.00 bond. Landry was arrested on July 30, 2013 and booked into the parish jail. No bond has been listed for Landry as of this time.
