A Sulphur woman is accused of stealing checks from an acquaintance in Vernon Parish. The victim says he realized the checks were stolen and more than $2,000 in unauthorized checks had been cashed. The victim indicated 22-year-old Robyn Wells had stayed at his home for a few days before the checks went missing. Calcasieu Parish detectives say Wells admitting to stealing the checks and forging the victim's signature. Wells was charged with 3 counts of theft over $1,500; and 3 counts of theft under $500. Her bond is set at $6,000.
