Opelousas Catholic High School added another cross to the school lawn, honoring the third student, killed in three months, in a car accident.
Students, parents and teachers gathered as students carried the cross to the lawn in rememberance of 11 year old Alyssa Guillory; An all too familiar sight at Opelousas Catholic School. Students are comforting each other, turning to their faith and their memories of Alyssa to get through another tragedy.
"She had the prettiest smile, she always had a smile on her face and she was like my sister," said friend Blaire Sonnier.
"I just remember her being at my cousins house and she was so happy and full of joy and laughing and smiling and everything," said Mccall Keeler.
Everyone signed the back of the cross, some leaving messages for the young girl taken too soon.
"She always had a smile on her face," said friend Courtney Thomassee.
"Alyssa was nice and sweet and would always be there and would never get in trouble," said Emery Hammond. "She would always want to do the right thing."
Two crosses already grace the front of the school with the names Sarah Jarrell and Morgan Adams. Both teens were killed in a car crash three months ago. Now, all three girls are forever memorialized.
"I really miss her, but I know now she's in heaven because she never did anything wrong," said Bethany Guidry. "She's in heaven and she's gonna' be here with us and she can help us through everything that we need as a school."
Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas is in charge of Alyssa's services. Visiting hours will be tomorrow from 10 AM to 11 PM, and then again starting at 8:00 Friday morning. Funeral services will be at 2:00, on Friday, at Saint Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.
