An arrest has been made in connection with the Hummingbird Lane murder in Lafayette Parish. This was the neighbor who was killed when the person next door asked him for help because she was being robbed.
On August 26, 2012 at 4:26 AM Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to the 100 block of Hummingbird Lane concerning a reported shooting. Clement Amos 33-years-old from Lafayette was fatally shot while responding to neighbor's call of a possible prowler.
A sketch was released by investigators along with a physical description on September 11, 2012.
Today Investigators with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office made an arrest of the person responsible for the shooting death of Amos.
Corlious Dyson, 28, of Opelousas is in the custody of sheriff's deputies awaiting charges of second degree murder.
Dyson was captured in Vermilion Parish with the assistance of the Vermilion Sheriff's Office and Abbeville Police.
Investigators continue to believe that Amos was not the intended target of this crime.
Opelousas Police and US Marshal's Service also assisted in the investigation.
