At approximately 3 p.m. today, a general contractor working on the road-widening project on Eraste Landry Road, cut one of the major fiber connections going directly into our Master Telecommunications Center (MTC) at Cox Communications. Within the major fiber connection, three fiber sheaths - pipes containing hundreds of fiber lines - have been damaged. As a result of the cut, 10 nodes are out.
Through our analysis, we have assessed that, approximately, more than 2,000 business and residential customers, mostly in the Town of Scott, are without Cox services at this time. Crews on the scene who are working diligently to restore the network as soon as possible. KATC will keep you posted as more information comes available.
