Lafayette, LA - Ascension Episcopal School will install Dr. David Rath as Head of School on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. A welcome reception will follow in Coughlin Hall adjacent to the church.
Dr. Rath was chosen from an impressive pool of candidates because he is a dynamic leader with over twenty years of experience with a majority of his career immersed in Episcopal schools. He holds a BA in Drama from Kenyon College in Ohio, a Masters in English, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from The George Washington University. His background includes experience as an English and drama teacher, athletic coach and school administrator at all levels. Dr. Rath is a lifelong Episcopalian who values independent education as an opportunity to serve students who have a life long passion for learning, and understand the importance of being good stewards in a global community.
According to Dr. Rath, "I believe that in this age of globalization, of an ever-shrinking world and of rapidly changing technology, we must help our students become generalists not specialists. Great schools offer entrepreneurial clubs and utilize business leaders in their community to help students create and problem solve. They use community resources and their surroundings to challenge and inspire tomorrow's leaders. " Ascension Episcopal School proudly welcomes Dr. Rath and his family to Lafayette.
