The hope was in 2011 that Ascension Episcopal would make the next step in its foundation of building a high school football program. AES started in 2009, made the playoffs in 2010 but fell short of climbing another step last season. Despite the departures of QB Heath Headley and RB Miles Lee, head coach Randy Johnson believes his Blue Gators can get back to the postseason and contend for the school's first ever playoff win. Trevor Doucet takes over at quarterback and will be surrounded by the trio of Cain Fontenot, Joey Greco and Blue Beadle in the backfield. The offensive line will return 3 linemen including All-District guard Shawn Broussard. Defensively, the Blue Gators return four starters headlined by Michael Trahan and Alec Stolzenthalier
