A Gonzales police officer has been arrested in a domestic violence incident involving his wife.
Police say Officer Davin Michael Miller has been placed on administrative leave with pay, pending an internal investigation.
Sgt. Steven Nethken said city officers initially were sent to Miller's house Thursday afternoon.
Officers handed the investigation over to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office once they learned about an alleged altercation that involved physical contact between Miller and his wife.
Miller was booked with one count of simple battery/domestic violence. He was released on $1,000 bail.
It was unclear whether Miller has an attorney.
