Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Ian Blanco, 17, who died on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 as a result from an accident in Orange Beach, Alabama, while on vacation.
Reverend Toby Ryder, Pastor of Duson Baptist Church will conduct the funeral service.
Survivors include his mother, Tera Strahan and her companion, Patrick Landry; his father, Shane Blanco and his companion, Chrysi Forton; a younger brother, Evan Blanco; a younger sister, Luella Blanco; and a younger stepsister, Jaylynn Landry; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Brenda Steadham; paternal grandparents, John and Corinne Thornton and Robert Blanco; one aunt, Shantell Aucoin; and two uncles, Jeremy Steadham and Bob Blanco.
Ian Blanco was a resident of Lafayette and attended Lafayette High School. He was a phenomenal musician with any musical instrument he touched, especially the guitar. Ian was an intellectual, free thinker with a passion for philosophy and spirituality. He was a young man who knew no enemies and lived a life of compassion and unconditional love.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ian's name to Habitat for Humanity, 714 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70501, where Ian had volunteered. And a fundraiser has been been established to help the family with funeral expenses.
