RCN To Televise Three Football Games in 2013 Season

LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Ragin' Cajuns Network will televise three football games in 2013, including its first-ever road game on Dec. 7 at South Alabama, increasing the number of televised Louisiana football games this season to 10.

The three RCN games this year will be the Oct. 5 meeting with Sun Belt newcomer Texas State, the Nov. 2 Homecoming match-up with New Mexico State and the regular season ending game at South Alabama.

In addition, the television schedule includes two games on ESPN2, one on ESPNU, one game as part of the Sun Belt Network, one each on Fox Sports Network and Fox Sports 1 and as many as 10 games on ESPN3, ESPN's online platform.

The complete television schedule is:

Aug. 31: at Arkansas (Fox Sports Network)
Sept. 7: at Kansas State (Fox Sports 1)
Sept. 14: Nicholls State (ESPN3)
Sept. 21: at Akron (No TV)
Oct. 5: Texas State (RCN/Cox 4/ESPN3)
Oct. 15: at WKU (ESPN2)
Oct. 22: at Arkansas State (ESPN2)
Nov. 2: New Mexico State (RCN/Cox 4/ESPN3)
Nov. 7: Troy (ESPNU)
Nov. 16: at Georgia State (No TV)
Nov. 30: ULM (SBC/ESPN3)
Dec. 7: at South Alabama (RCN/Cox 4/ESPN3)

"This says a lot about how far the Ragin' Cajuns football program has come in a short time," head coach Mark Hudspeth said. "To have so many of our games selected for television and to have ESPN add them to the ESPN3 platform is truly appreciated.

"This will be great for our fans, not only in Lafayette but around the country, allowing them to watch the Cajuns just about all season long. It will give great exposure to the both the university and the great city of Lafayette," Hudspeth added.

The three games on the Ragin' Cajuns Network will be broadcast to 17 parishes and almost 500,000 households throughout Louisiana. Cox 4 will once again serve as the flagship station.

The Cajuns are also featured once on the seven-game Sun Belt Network package, which is a joint partnership with Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) and Cox Sports Television (CST). Each game will be available in 13 states across the southeast.

The mid-week games at WKU (Oct. 15) and Arkansas State (Oct. 22) will both be available globally on ESPN2, marking the second straight year that Louisiana will make back-to-back mid-week appearances on ESPN2 in October.

ESPN3.com is the online platform that delivers thousands of global sports events annually and is accessible online via WatchESPN.com. It is currently available to approximately 70 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.

ESPN3.com is also available at no cost to approximately 21 million U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers connected to on-campus educational networks and on-base military networks.
