The trial of a Vermilion Parish man charged with second-degree murder is under way.
Quintin Mire is accused of shooting and killing Julian Gajan, Jr., during a 2011 hunting trip. Mire, who was initially charged with negligent homicide, allegedly killed Gajan when he fired three shots at what he thought was a deer.
Mire is also charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the shooting.
