The Hammond City Council has approved recommendations made by the Management Advisory Group to make fixes to the current pay plan.
The plans, for both civil and non-civil service employees, would attempt to correct errors found in the current pay system. The study detailed ways in which the pay plans would be changed, but no recommendation was made to lower any wages.
Carolyn Long, who presented the survey recommendations to the council on Tuesday, says the study found problems in where current employees were being paid as well as "confusing" ranges of pay. Some employee salaries even go beyond the maximum of the range, determined in the study by MAG. The group studied other cities that have similar structure and size.
