Off-duty fire captain hailed

Quick action by an off-duty Shreveport firefighter is being credited for helping to save a Bossier City home.
Fire Capt. Joe Presley was traveling on Interstate 20 just after 10 a.m. Tuesday when he saw smoke coming from a home in the Central Park neighborhood.
Authorities say he drove to the scene and began knocking on doors and window to make sure no one was inside. When he saw flames coming from a kitchen at the rear of the house, he called Bossier Parish 911.
Presley helped deploy hoses when fire engines arrived.
His actions drew praise from Fire Chief Brad Zagone. The fire started in the kitchen but firefighters had it isolated and under control in eight minutes.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
