Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say a 46-year-old Harvey man was struck by a hit and run driver while looking for his wife's glasses that she dropped from their car.
Col. John N. Fortunato says Edward Raymond James was hit in the 1400 block of Destrehen Ave. in Harvey late Thursday night. James was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fortunato says James had got of his vehicle and was search for his wife's glasses that she dropped out the window when he was hit by a tan Chevrolet Suburban.
He says the vehicle returned to the scene about 30 minutes later.
Fortunato says the driver, 42-year-old Derrick Fradieu, of Marrero, was booked with one count of felony hit and run and driving while intoxicated.
