Federal prosecutors say a Houston man has pleaded guilty to using counterfeit credit cards and other devices to steal thousands of dollars at southwestern Louisiana casinos.
In Lake Charles on Thursday, U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley's office issued a news release announcing the guilty plea of 33-year-old Deamioune F. Caples.
Finley's office said that between June 21, 2012, and Jan. 13, Caples used counterfeit credit cards and other access devices at Delta Downs, L'Auberge Du Lac, and Isle of Capri casinos to access money. He stole $118,684 using the counterfeit devices.
Caples faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and restitution for the unauthorized use of a counterfeit access device count. Sentencing is scheduled for October.
