NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - New Iberia Mayor Hilda Curry has been installed as president of the Louisiana Municipal Association.
During the organization's 75th annual convention over the weekend in Lake Charles, Curry succeeded Carencro Mayor Glenn L. Brasseaux as the state's leading advocate for villages, towns, and cities for the 2012-2013 term.
As president, Curry will lead the LMA Executive Board and chair the LMA Executive Committee. Curry is in her second term as mayor and has served two terms as vice president at large, second vice president in the 2010-2011 term and first vice president in the 2011-2012 term.
Curry's father, J. Allen Daigre, mayor of New Iberia from 1964 through 1988, was LMA president in the 1975-1976 term.
