City-Parish President Joey Durel and Acadiana Breastfeeding Coalition will ‘ring in' August as Breastfeeding Awareness Month this Saturday, August 3rd, at 8 a.m. during the Lafayette Farmer's Market at The Horse Farm.
President Durel will sign a proclamation and "ring the bell" to highlight Breastfeeding Awareness Month in Lafayette.
"We're working all year around promote breastfeeding awareness in our community, but August is national awareness month," Kendra Coco of ABC said. "We'll be hosting several great events, including our "Eat Local" celebration on August 17th. We will also hold breastfeeding counselor training on August 26-30, in partnership with the Healthy Living Club."
Acadiana Breastfeeding Coalition is a non-profit organization established in 2011. They represent "Region 4," a seven-parish area consisting of Evangeline, St. Landry, Acadia, Lafayette, Iberia, St. Martin and Vermillion Parishes.
