TALLULAH, La. (AP) - State police have arrested a sixth prison guard in connection to allegations of inmates being abused at the Madison Parish Detention Center.
Investigators arrested 34-year-old Dexter Williams of Tallulah on Wednesday. He was booked with malfeasance.
Five other prison guards were arrested July 25.
The arrests were a result of an ongoing investigation that was requested July 16 by Madison Parish Sheriff Larry Cox.
Cox contacted investigators from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations to conduct an independent investigation into allegations of prisoner abuse by guards that occurred at the Madison Parish Detention Center in February. Cox requested state police to continue an investigation he had started into the allegations.
The suspected abuse involves three incidents with two inmates over two days.
