A traffic violation near North Main Street in Opelousas on Wednesday afternoon leads to a drug arrest.
Malcolm Frank, 50, of Opelousas, was arrested after Opelousas Officers on patrol observed a traffic violation and performed a traffic stop. Officers say they observed an open container of alcohol in the center console of the vehicle. During a pat down, a large item in the front pocket of Frank was located containing Lortabs. According to officers Frank did not have a prescription for the narcotics. Officers searched the interior of his vehicle where a large plastic bag containing marijuana was found behind the front passenger seat.
Opelousas Detectives then obtained a search warrant and proceeded to the home of Malcolm Frank where two bottles of liquid drug known as Promethazine was located and seized. Officers also located approximately 1 pound of marijuana and a digital scale inside the residence to be seized as evidence.
The total of illegal narcotics located on and around the person of Malcolm Frank had a street value of approximately $3000. Malcolm Frank was formally charged with Two (2) counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule V Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphanelia, Open Container, and Safety Belt Use.
