The Acadiana Center for the Arts is offering 2 Performing Arts Residencies for the 2012 -2013 season. The Performing Arts Residency at the Acadiana Center for the Arts gives performing arts companies from the eight-parish Acadiana region (Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Landry and Vermilion parishes) the opportunity to be selected for a one-week residency at the Acadiana Center for the Arts for the development, rehearsal, and performance of a play, dance performance or multi-media performance art piece.
During the residency the residency company will be required to engage in a community based education program by providing at least one of the following: a master class, an outreach activity, workshop or panel discussion etc. to the greater AcA community.
Companies will have access to the facilities free of charge. Companies will be responsible for set/lighting design, set and costume procurement, all talent and auditions, stage management and directing/choreography. Companies will be able to utilize the James Devin Moncus Theater for rehearsal days, a tech/dress rehearsal night and three performance dates.
Applications deadlines are August 10, 2012, 5:00 p.m. and November 9, 2012, 5 p.m.
Notification of Selected Performing Arts Residency is August 24, 2012 and November 23, 2012.
Rehearsals for 1st Residency will be September 10 - 13 (Rehearsal), September 14 - 16, 2012 (Performance). Rehearsals for the 2nd Residency will be Jan 7 - 10, 2013 (Rehearsal), Jan 11 - 13, 2013 (Performance).
