MONROE, La. (AP) - A West Monroe man convicted of negligent homicide for the death of his infant son has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The News-Star reports that Chase Cascio's sentence Wednesday was the maximum prison term he faced for his conviction. He isn't eligible for parole, probation or a suspended sentence.
A state jury convicted Cascio in May of killing his 2-month-old son, Roman, who died in June 2009.
The newspaper says a doctor who treated the child associated his injuries with Shaken Baby Syndrome.
