Tropical Showers Persist

Little change is expected in Acadiana's weather pattern through the weekend as tropical moisture remains mired in the region.

High pressure over the Eastern Gulf continues to funnel surface moisture northward into Louisiana while a weakness (upper level low pressure trough) in the upper atmosphere continues to allow for more unstable conditions.

So there remains little change in the forecast with healthy daytime rain chances continuing into the weekend along with a chance of lingering and/or re-developing activity at night.

Surface high pressure to our east should begin to work it's way westward early next week thereby reducing deep moisture levels and instability.  The risk of afternoon showers and storms should decrease starting Monday while temperatures ramp back up into the 90s.

In the near term, thanks to the tropical moisture our daytime highs will stay mostly in the 80s...good news for our air conditioners and our utility bills.
