On Friday, October 26, 2012, Captain Megan Vizena with the St. Landry Sheriff's Office and St. Landry Crime Stoppers Office Manager Sheryl Badeaux visited several schools and daycares around St. Landry Parish speaking to the students about Halloween safety.
"We wanted to meet with the kids to remind them of a few safety tips. We reminded them never to go in a home when invited in by a stranger, never to walk in a roadway and never to go trick or treating without a supervisor. We also handed out Halloween bags that are a bright yellow color. This way, the child will be visible to any drivers," said Vizena.
SLSO reminds drivers to slow down and be especially cautious in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
