WALKER, La. (AP) - The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says a 28-year-old pregnant woman has been stabbed in the abdomen and her baby cut out of her.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Lori Steele says the woman survived the attacked Tuesday, but the baby died. Steele did not immediately provide information on how pregnant the woman was or her current condition.
Steele says deputies responded to an emergency call at about 11:15 a.m. in Walker. She says a suspect is being treated at an area hospital for unspecified injuries and is in custody, but has not yet been charged.
An investigation into the alleged attack is continuing.
