A Lafayette man is dead tonight after what police say began as a disturbance at The Studio Six Hotel on the Evangeline Thruway this morning. Police say a 48-year-old guest, dressed only in his underwear was knocking on doors disturbing other guests. A hotel security guard confronted the man. After a short struggle, the guard brought him to the lobby where police took him into custody. At that time, the suspect was having difficulty breathing. Minutes after, an ambulance arrived and took him to a hospital, where he later died.
"We're speaking with the security guard and also witnesses that witnessed the incident as it unfolded inside the hotel so thats all part of the ongoing investigation," said Paul Mouton of the Lafayette Police Department.
Police are not releasing the man's name. The Lafayette Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy.
