New allegations against substitute teacher in Lafayette

New information on a substitute accused of taping an elementary student's mouth shut in Lafayette.
Michelle Droddy's son is a fourth grader at J. Wallace James Elementary school. September 12 a substitute teacher allegedly used tape to silence her nine-year old son. Superintendent Pat Cooper says they interviewed almost 100 students to find out what happened. He says it's completely inexcusable and the substitute will never be hired for anything in the parish again.
KATC got an incident report from the school that reiterates the mother's claim. Her child's mouth was taped, but there are new allegations listed. Another student may have been hit with a ruler by the same teacher.
One of the children's mothers gave KATC the incident report filed by the principal of J. Wallace James Elementary. The report says after the 9-year-old's mouth was taped. He was told his punishment would be "the pain when it was pulled off." The form also describes a second alleged incident with the same substitute. The principal says the substitute made a child bend over and hit him with a ruler.
Again, the substitute teacher has been banned from working in the parish. The incidents are being investigated by the Lafayette Police Department.
