Home for the Holidays Ribbon Cutting

The Acadian Home Builders Association (AHBA) and KATC-TV 3 kicked off their Annual Home for the Holidays Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday. This year marks the eighth anniversary of the raffle house project which has donated $925,000 to Acadiana non-profit shelter organizations.

Home for the Holidays is an event in which AHBA builder members construct a high-end home and then raffle it off for charity. Recipients include Faith House, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, St. Michael Center for Veterans, The Children's Shelters of Acadiana Youth Inc. and the Community Foundation of Acadiana. Proceeds from the project also go to sponsor construction programs and scholarships at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The 2012 Home for the Holidays is located in E'Lan Subdivision and was designed by Girouard & Hebert Architects. The house is being built by AHBA builder member David Anderson of Anderson Home Builders. It features 2,808 sq. ft. of living space, four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and is valued at over $450,000.

Home for the Holidays tickets are $100.00 each and on sale now at all Doug Ashy Building Materials stores, Lafayette locations of MidSouth Bank and the AHBA office. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.HomeForTheHolidaysLA.com.

Home for the Holidays Platinum Sponsors include Anderson Home Builders, Doug Ashy Building Materials, E'lan Development by MPW Properties, MidSouth Bank, News Talk KPEL 96.5 and Service Chevrolet.
