Two blood drives to honor Gueydan hit-and-run victims

The family of the Gueydan hit-and-run victims have announced two blood drives to honor both. The proceeds will go to help cover medical expenses for both victims.

The accident happened on August 25 when 40-year-old Amy Breaux, and her fiance, Ruston Bourque were walking out of the Gueydan Duck Festival. In a matter of seconds their lives were changed forever when they were hit by an oncoming car. Amy Breaux died days later from her injuries. Ruston has remained in the hospital and has undergone four surgeries. The family says Ruston will hopefully be home by September 7.

The two blood drives are scheduled as follows:

September 15
10 AM until 2 PM
Healthmart Pharmacy
1322 North Lake Arthur Ave.
Jennings, LA

September 22
10 AM to 2 PM
Johnny's Drive INN
502 First St.
Gueydan, LA.

Officials with the Gueydan Duck Festival are hoping to to have a reward fund set up soon.

Sadly, there are no new leads in the case. State Police say they believe they are looking for a small white passenger car, similar to a Honda Accord, with damage to the front and sides of the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Gueydan Police Department at 337-536-9219, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-898-4409, or Louisiana State Police at 337-262-5880.
