AZTEC, N.M. (AP) - Sheriff's officials in a northwestern New Mexico county say a motorcyclist from Louisiana and the driver of a sports utility vehicle have died after a collision.
San Juan County Sheriff's spokeswoman Beth Utley says three men were riding their motorcycles south on U.S. 550 at midmorning Sunday when the driver of the SUV pulled out in front of them from a county road.
The first motorcyclist was able to avoid the SUV but the second hit the back of the SUV and was killed. He's identified as 43-year-old Michael Shockley of New Iberia.
The third biker also hit the SUV but suffered only minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV was identified as 78-year-old David Hutchison of Aztec. His female passenger was slightly hurt.
