Officer Romalis Curtis, who is presently a Lance Corporal in the Marine Reserves, recently wrote a letter to the Office of the Secretary of Defense explaining how thankful and proud he was to work for an understanding Agency and Chief of Police who allows him to continue with his military duties and training as needed.
Because of the attention the letter created, Chief Perry Gallow was recognized as a "Patriotic Employer" and presented with a plaque and certificate from Roy Nomey, Committee Member of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves.
Chief Gallow stated that although his first job is to provide service and protection to the citizens of Opelousas, he understands that some of the men and women employed as Police Officers also have a duty to protect and serve the United States of America. Chief Gallow stated that military personnel is vital to the security of this country and he is proud to have Officers who are called upon to perform duties for the United States of America.
