The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is taking a new approach to reducing jail overcrowding. Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says non-violent and non-sexual offenders will be referred to the Academy of Training Skills in Lacassine. The facility will offer housing, clothing, meals, transportation, employment, counseling, and education to those criminals. Inmates must meet various requirements to be admitted to the program.
