Governor Jindal Appoints Claude Jackson to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board

Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Claude Jackson to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, effective August 17th, 2012.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board serves to regulate public policy of the state's gaming industry.

According to statute, the board is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments, seven representing each congressional district and two at-large members. Of the nine appointments, five must be appointed per the recommendation of the president of each of the state's public academic institutions of higher education and the presidents of the following academic institutions: Centenary College in Shreveport; Dillard University in New Orleans; Loyola University in New Orleans; Tulane University in New Orleans; Xavier University in New Orleans; and Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans. The governor must designate a chair, and all nine appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.

Claude Jackson, of Rodessa, is retired from the military and was the former Water & Sewage Superintendant for the Town of Rodessa and the Town of Hosston. Jackson is also the owner of Space Walk. He will be appointed to serve as a representative of the 4th Congressional District, as required by statute.
