Students will have an extra week to register for classes at South Louisiana Community College.
Chancellor Dr. Natalie Harder extended the registration process by one week because of ongoing problems with a new online registration system.
"We are continually trying to be creative in addressing our students' needs during this time. Extending registration is just one of several steps we are taking to accommodate our students," said Harder. "We understand their frustration and are working diligently to address concerns and get students registered for classes. We have even added mini-semesters within the traditional fall semester to help students take the courses they need."
Other measures include expanding hours of operations for Student Services on all SLCC campuses. Advisors and other personnel will be available Monday - Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Campuses are located in Lafayette, New Iberia, St. Marinville, Crowley, Ville Platte, Abbeville and Opelousas.
Also, the deadline to apply for a hardship waiver has been extended. Students in degree and technical programs can apply for a hardship waiver if they cannot cover tuition costsafter exhausting all financial aid awards. Applications must be turned in by Friday, Sept. 7.
The waiver application can be found at www.southlouisiana.edu
No late registration fees will be assessed during the Fall 2012 registration period.
