Opelousas Police arrest a man accused of arson. The Opelousas Police Department and Opelousas Fire Department responded to a call of a structure that was on fire in the 1000 block of S. Washington Street Sunday morning. The fire department arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. An investigation led officers to 21 year old Tamarcus Sam of Opelousas. Sam was observed in the area before the fire started, and was also seen running from the area shortly after the fire was started. Sam has a history of charges dealing with Arson dating back to 2006. Evidence located at the scene and on Sam has been seized and sent to the Acadiana Crime Lab for further analysis. Sam is presently held without bond at the Opelousas Police Department Jail on the charge of Simple Arson.
