Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Water Rescue Unit rescued two people Wednesday night who were stranded in Vermilion Bay. "Dispatchers with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office received a call from boaters advising they were having electrical problems and were stranded near the area of Dry Reef in Vermillion Bay," said Capt. Ryan Turner.
Rescuers found a man a woman unharmed in a 22 foot fishing boat. "The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Water Rescue Unit is on constant 24 hour call and able to respond to nearly all emergencies on the many waterways within Iberia Parish," said Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal.
