Broussard, LA - Last night, the Broussard City Council held a special session to appoint a council member to fill the vacancy created by the untimely death of District 1 Councilman Terry Guilbeau at the end of July. The council voted unanimously to appoint Guilbeau's daughter, Angelique Racca, to fill her father's seat until a special election is held on April 6, 2013.
"The death of Terry Guilbeau was devastating for our community. Terry was a good public servant and worked tirelessly to make Broussard the community it is today," said Charlie Langlinais, City of Broussard Mayor. "We are confident that his daughter will step in to her father's role and bring the same dedication and selfless spirit to our council and our city and I look forward to working with her."
Racca was sworn in last night by Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court, Louis Perret, and will begin serving immediately.
