The Rapides Parish Police Jury has hired Alliance Design Group LLC to take over the $23 million renovation of the Coliseum. Moments earlier, the jury terminated its contract on Monday with Barron Heinberg & Brocato, which had run into budget issues.
Voters approved the bond issue - backed by a property tax - to fund the renovations in November. A second property tax to fund Coliseum operations over the next 20 years was also passed.
The goal is to modernize the outdated entertainment venue on La. Highway 28 West so it can compete with newer arenas and attract events that currently bypass the Alexandria market.
