David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy has been awarded a grant to fund two educational programs through a partnership with Chevron and Project Lead The Way (PLTW). Project Lead The Way high school Pathway to Engineering program and middle school Gateway to Technology will deliver an exciting project-problem-based learning environment.

to the students at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy to help prepare them for the global economy. Thanks to Chevron, we are making a difference in the lives of Louisiana students."
Project Lead The Way, is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the U.S. Their mission is to help prepare students for the global economy through world-class
curriculum, high-quality professional development, and an engaged network.

The Lafayette Parish School System is proud to announce the following grants being awarded to David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy; a $50,000 two-year grant to fund the implementation of PLTW's Pathway to Engineering LPSS's high school students. This grant will provide $35,000 for year one, and $15,000 for year two; both of which may be used for equipment and professional development. In addition, a $10,000 one-year grant has been awarded to supplement the GTT (Gateway to Technology)program for 6-8th grade students; this may also be used for equipment or professional development.
PLTW is a non-profit organization focused on the enhancement of STEM educational programs. The
program offered by PLTW engages students in activities, projects, and problem-based (APPB) learning,
which provides hands-on classroom experiences.
