A ridge of high pressure is backing westward allowing more unstable air to remain across Acadiana for the early part of the week. Daytime heating should allow for more scattered showers and storms to develop, some producing locally heavy rain. Most of Acadiana should see between one and two inches of rain Monday through Thursday. By Friday, a weak cool front will move in from the north. The airmass will be more dry than cool. Rain chances for the weekend should drop, temperatures should remain near normal during the day with highs in the low 90s. Night time lows could drop to near 70 with the lower dew points.
Tropics are quiet early this week. There is a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean that will drift westward. Conditions are not favorable at this time for development, but better upper level support may be in store later this week.
