Three people are behind bars after an attack and robbery in Evangeline Parish. Deputies say Wednesday, they were notified of an incident on LA 10 west of the Ville Platte city limits. Deputies say after further investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Kerry Dwayne Bergeron, was attacked before the accident. Deputies say four suspects were involved in the attack. They add that Leeann Fontenot of Mamou and Amber Ducote attacked the victim at the Vidrine Corner Store. Deputies say during the attack, Fontenot contacted her brother Casey Fontenot, who met them at the store and continued the attack. Deputies say they knocked Bergeron to the ground and kicked him in the face and head. Deputies say Ducote and Leeann Fontenot then went in Bergeron's vehicle and stole about $1500 from a bag inside. Deputies say the suspects then left the store.
Leeann Fontenot, Amber Ducote, Casey Fontenot, was all arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Robbery and Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Deputies say additional suspects are being sought, and future arrest are pending.
A possible suspect, Craig Fontenot, is believed to be hiding in the Oakdale area. Call the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office if you know where he is.
