Attorney General Buddy Caldwell's office said it will not pursue state charges after an investigation into alleged improprieties in 15th Judicial District Attorney Mike Harson's pre-trial diversion program for DWI offenses.
"The Louisiana Attorney General's Office has concluded its inquiry related to the Recusation Motion signed and ordered on May 11, 2012 by the Fifteenth Judicial District Court," the attorney general's office wrote. "We find that no state charges are warranted."
So far, six people have been indicted as a result of the federal investigation into the pre-trial diversion program, including former Harson assistant Barna Haynes.
Several of those indicted -- including Haynes, former Acadiana Outreach Center employees Elaine Crump and Sandra Degeyter, former Assistant District Attorney Greg Williams and his secretary, Denease Curry -- have all entered plea agreements in exchange for their help in the investigation.
Sentencings for those who have pleaded are scheduled for early December.
The other person named in the federal indictments, private investigator Robert Williamson, is still awaiting a trial date on charges of conspiracy, bribery and making a false statement to a federal agent.
