Suspect sentenced in shooting of councilman's son

A man accused of shooting and paralyzing the teenage son of Metro Councilman Chandler Loupe during an alleged drug deal-turned-robbery last year pleaded guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Tyler Coleman, of Baton Rouge, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count each of armed robbery and negligent injuring. The negligent injuring count was a misdemeanor.
East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III said the "significant felony plea and substantial sentence" were consistent with the wishes of the Loupe family.
Authorities say Thomas Loupe was shot in the chest after he and two acquaintances attempted to buy marijuana.
