The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board has voted to seek new proposals for a contract worth an estimated $13 million to oversee repairs on two schools damaged by Hurricane Isaac.
The decision puts the school district back at square one nearly a year after the storm.
School board members voted 8-2 Thursday to solicit the latest round of proposals.
The board voted June 6 to hire Hammerman & Gainer International, a New Orleans disaster recovery firm, to oversee the rebuilding of the schools.
Last month, the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors issued a cease-and-desist order against the district because HGI was not adequately licensed for the job.
That set the stage for Thursday's vote to issue a new request for proposals.
