Acadia Parish Police Jury may soon become the latest government body to adopt a sagging pants ordinance.
A jury committee gave preliminary approval Tuesday night to a law that would outlaw the wearing of pants, shorts, or skirts in a manner that exposes underwear or skin. According to police jury secretary-treasurer Richard Latiolais, the ordinance is modeled after a similar ordinance enacted in Vermilion Parish earlier this year.
The full police jury will consider the ordinance at this coming Tuesday's meeting. The jury will also decide at the meeting what fine and/or jail sentence will be attached to the law.
Latiolais says the law will not take effect until a public hearing about it is held.
